Seward Alaska

Up this morning early again.  This is our last full day on our land tour of Alaska.  We began with a visit to the Heritage Centre here in Anchorage.

Afterwards we drove down along the Cook Inlet to Seward.  We had a tour of a local dog kennel where Dan Savage picked us up from our hotel to go dog sledding. Dan's grandfather was one of the originators of the Iditarod Dog Sled race here in Alaska and a member of his family have won the last 3 races.

A team of 15 dogs took us around the property for two miles so we could experience the power and training of their sled dogs.  This was certainly a work out for these Alaskan Huskies, pulling a huge cart with 9 people on board.

Afterwards we got to visit with 4 new puppies they had in a separate pen, so soft and cute to hold. No, we are not bringing one home, a sled dog from a team of champions can sell for up to $20,000 dollars (US).

Tonight we dined with our friends from last year's tour, Dave and Cheryl, catching up with them. You will see more of these good people over the next week as they are on our cruise which begins tomorrow!!
